Hollywood actress Eva Longoria revealed that her family no longer lives in the United States, but travels between Mexico and Spain.

In an interview for the November cover story of French magazine Marie Claire, Longoria said the decision was due to the COVID-19 pandemic, homelessness and high taxes in California, and the “changing atmosphere” in the country following Donald Trump’s reelection.

She also acknowledged that she was “privileged” enough to emigrate, saying, “Most Americans are not so lucky. They will end up stranded in this dystopian country.”

The “Desperate Housewives” star is a leading voice for women and Latinos in Democratic politics.

With a strong interest in immigration policy, she has been committed to Democratic candidates at the national and local levels since at least 2012.

She spoke at this year’s Democratic National Convention and campaigned on behalf of Kamala Harris using the slogan of her 2024 presidential candidate, a Spanish translation of Barack Obama’s famous slogan, “Yes, we can.” (translate “Yes, we can”) into the phrase “She se puede.”

In an interview with Marie Claire published Thursday, Ms. Longoria expressed her disappointment in Trump’s victory over Ms. Harris last week.

“If he keeps his promise, it’s going to be a scary place,” she said. She added that Trump’s victory in 2016 shattered her belief that in politics, “the best wins.”
