MANILA, Philippines — Host and comedian Vice Ganda has praised And The Breadwinner Is… co-stars and lovebirds Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings who are embroiled in an infidelity scandal.
The Matong actors went viral after Anthony’s ex-boyfriend Jam Villanueva posted screenshots of private messages between the two.
The infidelity accusations dogged the two actors for days after online users saw Jam’s cryptic posts and reposts. Maris and Anthony have since released statements on the matter.
The day before the two actors made their public statements, a press conference and the official trailer launch of And The Breadwinner Is… took place at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theater.
Malice and Anthony were among the few cast members absent from the event, along with Joel Torre and Cloot Capompon. Earlier in the media conference, Vice was asked how Matton ended up being involved, noting that Vice’s past work at the Metro Manila Film Festival often featured her current beau.
Vice acknowledged that Malice and Anthony worked well with each other, as seen in the tandem’s birth series, Can’t Buy Me Love, and noted that they are individually very talented.
“Malice is very talented. You can’t ignore her or ignore her,” Vice said. “And Anthony never thought he’d do that because he wasn’t on screen.”
The host and comedian admitted that it was Star Magic who approached her about Matton’s involvement in And The Breadwinner Is…, to which Vice agreed. He reiterated that Maris’ talent has been evident for years.
“And The Breadwinner Is…” also features Eugene Domingo, John Hilario, Gladys Reyes, Cocoy de Santos, Rassie Marquez, MC Mua, Via Antonio, Argus Aspiras and Marou de Guzman. Directed by Jun Robles Llana, the film is an official entry in this year’s 50th Metro Manila Film Festival and will be screened on Christmas Day, December 25th.
