FPJ’s Grandson Files COC; Gathers Support From Over 200 Youth Orgs
MANILA, Philippines — Brian Llamanzares, the son of Senator Grace Poe and grandson of the legendary Filipino actor Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ), took a significant step in his political journey today by filing his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) as the first nominee of the FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list. This milestone follows an inspiring event held on September 29, where Llamanzares, as chairman of FPJ Panday Bayanihan, brought together over 200 youth organizations from across the Philippines during the inaugural “Nagkakaisang Kabataan FPJ Panday Bayanihan Youth Congress.” This event was organized by Kabataan sa Kartilya ng Katipunan (KKK), a nonprofit dedicated to promoting nationalism and national development.

The gathering aimed to empower young participants through discussions and idea-sharing sessions, providing them with the skills and tools to foster meaningful change in their communities. In his keynote speech, Llamanzares emphasized the pivotal role of youth in driving initiatives for progress.

“With the rapid pace of technological advancements and the democratization of information, today’s youth are more aware of pressing issues, even on a national scale,” he shared with enthusiasm. “We are the embodiment of hope for innovative and effective solutions to the challenges our world faces.”

Speaking to an audience of over 500 youth leaders from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, he expressed gratitude for the growing support he has received. “Last week, we garnered backing from various sectoral leaders, yesterday the governor of Mindoro endorsed us, and today, I am proud to say that I have the support of hundreds of youth leaders from every corner of our country.”

Andre Garcia, KKK National President, echoed Llamanzares’s sentiments during his welcoming remarks. “As empowered youth, we are committed to pursuing real change. Guided by a spirit of nationalism, we unite with a shared vision to serve and uplift our fellow Filipinos, amplifying our voices for a stronger nation. This is a true manifestation of us becoming the architects of the Philippines’ future.”

Brian follows in the political footsteps of his “solo” FPJ, who famously ran for president in 2004 but passed away from a stroke the same year. His grandmother, Susan Roces, also made her mark in politics, famously calling for then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to resign in 2005, convinced that Arroyo’s victory was tainted by electoral fraud. Roces passed away in 2022 at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy of advocacy and resilience.
