South Korean actor Song Jae Lim found dead at 39

South Korean actor Song Jae-rim, known for his role as Blake in the Korean drama “Moon Embracing the Sun,” was found dead at his home in Seoul on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old, who began his career as a model, rose to fame in the 2012 historical drama “The Moon Embracing the Sun” before appearing in other variety shows and TV series.

A note was reportedly found in his apartment, police said, adding that there was no evidence of a crime.

His death has raised fresh concerns about the enormous pressure those in South Korea’s entertainment industry face.

South Korean stars paid tribute following the news of Song’s passing.

Fellow actor Yoo Sun, who worked with Song on the 2016 series “Our Gap,” posted a photo of the two together on Instagram with the caption, “So sad and so painful…May you find peace and serenity.”

Another actor, Park Ho-san, also wrote in an Instagram post, “It’s hard to believe (the news) because you were always so cheerful.”

According to news site Yonhap News, the actor’s family expressed their wish to hold a small funeral with only family members.

The Korean entertainment industry is known for a high-pressure environment where celebrities are held to strict standards regarding appearance and behavior.

Recent deaths of celebrities such as “Parasite” actor Lee Sun-kyun and K-pop stars Moon Bin, Goo Hara, and Sulli have raised questions about the extent of such pressure measures.
